Which Plastics Are Okay?

here is the low down on the 7 types of plastic...

1 PET Polyethylene terephthalate- like in bottles, microwave pouches

2 HDPE High density Polyethylene- laundry detergent jugs (thicker plastics)

3 PVC Polyvinyl chloride- clear food, medical tubing

4 LDPE Low density polyethylene- dry cleaning bags, plastic wrap, produce bags

5 PP Polypropylene tough plastics like medicine bottles, margarine tubs

6 PS Polystyrene- Styrofoam, plastic food containers, plastic plates, cups for hot drinks

7 Other - Plastic made with resin

How to understand the codes?

AVOID 3 & 5... and reuse 6 because you cannot recycle it. *Check with your local recycling center to see if they accept 6 at any time of the year.
